About Brad

Hey! I’m Brad Anderson Jr., and I’m passionate about creating and sharing knowledge in 3D and 2D design, as well as various maker-related projects. My digital creative journey began in middle school, where I started tinkering with programs like MetaCreations’ Poser and Bryce (3D). It wasn’t long before I spent four years studying drafting in high school, where I honed my skills using both AutoCAD and 3D Studio Max. This foundational experience laid the groundwork for my passion for design.

Initially, I had planned to pursue a career in architecture, but my path shifted when I enlisted in the U.S. Marines during my senior year in the early 2000s. Serving as an engineer specializing in heavy equipment operations, I spent four more years developing a strong foundation in discipline, teamwork, and practical problem-solving skills that continue to benefit me today.

Following my service, I continued my education in Georgia before transferring to the University of Colorado Denver, where I studied 3D Design and Animation. This immersive academic experience gave me a professional approach to 3D modeling, using industry-standard tools like Autodesk Maya, Pixologic ZBrush, SideFX Houdini, and Blender.

After my time in Colorado, I spent almost a decade working in the film industry, contributing to large film and TV productions, including notable projects with Marvel and HBO. This experience taught me to approach projects with a wide-angle perspective, progressively narrowing my focus to capture essential details. Transitioning from 3D work for film and games to 3D design for manufacturing, I discovered a new level of gratification in bringing ideas to life as tangible objects through 3D printing, CNC machining, and laser engraving.

I love turning ideas into reality, and I’m dedicated to sharing this creative journey through tutorials and guides that break down complex concepts from a beginner’s perspective. I believe in always seeking better solutions, refining techniques, and encouraging others to explore new approaches. Thanks for joining me on this exciting creative adventure!
